Buddy

The registration for our buddy program in the winter term 2024/25 has started.

Buddy-Team

The Buddy-Team organizes the Buddy-Program, which provides every exchange student with a German Buddy as far as he/she likes to have one. It was initiated in winter semester 2002/2003. About 200 international students participate in it every year.

The Buddy picks up the exchange student at the airport or the train station, accompanies him/her to the government agency and helps with all the formalities concerning the university. In addition to that, the Buddy is the contact person for all questions about life in Germany and at the university that the exchange student may have. Every student of the university of Hohenheim who is in Hohenheim during the semester break or at the beginning of the semester can become a Buddy. The Buddy-Team tries to regard the language skills, the preferences from buddies and the field of study when allocating the exchange students.

Students from abroad coming to Hohenheim:
If you would like to get a Buddy, please fill out the form for foreign students.

Students from Hohenheim:
If you want to become a Buddy, please fill out the form for students of the University of Hohenheim.

For help on what exactly to do as a Buddy you can take a look at our Guideline for Buddies

Important:

Because we only get the list of incoming students in February/March and August/September from the International Office, we ask you to bring patience and to wait for our message after you registered as a buddy. The allocation of the incoming students to the Buddies is very time consuming and only takes place at the end of the previous semester. You can be sure, once we have found a suitable Incoming for you, you will be notified immediately.

If you have any questions, please contact us anytime.

Feedback: It's important that you let us know if we can improve something and if your Buddy did not contact you or did not take his tasks serious. Only if you do so we can keep the Buddy certificates and change something about it.
